WEEKLY STRUCTURE

Understanding the Guitar

  • Let's begin our guitar playing journey!
  • Get familiarized with the instrument, string names and different octaves. Learn to play a song with the correct playing posture and the hand position.

  • Get introduced to the basic elements of music theory and its representation in sheet music.
  • Apply the concepts learnt to understand the instrument and music better through a technical framework.

Major Scales - I

  • Learn major scales in two positions - E and A.
  • Build right hand and left hand coordination and practice the same by learning a new song.

Major Scales - II

  • Let's dig deeper! Understand the major scales up to one sharp and one flat and learn the scale positions for both hands.
  • Learn to identify the sound of a major scale and major chords.

Rhythms - I

  • Learn about rhythmic values and counting different values using worksheets.
  • Practice the rhythmic values in different combinations followed by its application in a song.

Clefs

  • Get introduced to the notes in treble and bass clef.
  • Deepen your understanding of the notes through worksheets.

Major Cords

  • Learn E major, E minor, A major and A minor chords.
  • Focus will be on position, transitions, connections and difference between the sound of a major and minor chord.

Rhythms - II

  • Work on rests and understanding of tempo with the song.
  • Practice various combinations of rhythmic notes, rests and start practicing with a metronome.
  • Build a basic understanding of time signatures and dotted notes.

  • Get introduced to different performance directions and learn varied elements like phrasing, accents, legato, staccato playing etc.

Frequently asked questions

Is the trial class free? Yes! We want all kids to have a first hand experience of Allround experience and so we don't charge for the trial classes.
What if my child does not like the course or teacher? Please reach out to the Allround Student Coordinators through chat or email and we'll be happy to help. Generally all courses are fully refundable before the second session (unless specified otherwise), please let us know then if you are unhappy for any reason.
